Breaking Through The Arts

Today, we started shooting Rosswill Hilario's dance video. He invited me to join the production team. For sometime now, I was being told to join the arts with my interest in production design. I, initially, exposed myself behind the scenes observing tapings for some TV soaps. Now, in this collaboration, it was an immediately realized project that I am getting hands on with on various aspects. It started from scratch of brainstorming for the story to the full production on the shooting days. Here are some behind the scenes still shots I tried to take while cameras are rolling.

Our dancers/actors for this video are all professional choreographers: Tim, Jae, and Paul.

In this production, we had limited budget to work with. Due to budget constraints, we almost did not proceed. But we managed. To cut down the expenses, the dancers were able to do their own make-up so that we need not get make-up artists. The tricky thing was dressing them up. And, again, to cut on expense, we did try to be the stylists, amateurist we may be.
Tim and Jae. Paul managed to bring some shirts and having spares, we chose this white and orange check for Tim. Tim came in with only tees. The pants and shoes are still his own, though. Jae had this pink long blouse with her. It had a deep V neckline so we asked her to wear the white tube under. And, we tucked the long blouse in this wrap around skirt. But we were initially been concerned if she can really dance with this very long skirt. But the skirt flowed with the dance. Jae's shoe was a slip-on. With a ribbon she brought with her, she tied them up like ballet shoes.

Jae was able to do this split with that long skirt.

With so much anticipation, would this end to a kiss?

These all came from what the dancers brought with them. Paired together the olive green maxi skirt with the stripe blouse. Since they are dancing and the blouse has a wide collar, Jae was asked to wear her mustard yellow tank under the blouse.

Are they fighting? Well, they are just practicing the choreography with some acting exercises.

That is some lifting!

The director gives instructions to his talents.

We need to call it a fruitful day when we can no longer manage to shoot when it started to rain. Wish us luck in our future endeavors!
